About Jenny Chapin

My studies in alternative medicine began at the California School of Herbal Studies in 1987. In 1990 I enrolled in the Ada Comstock Scholars Program at Smith College, graduating cum laude in 1993. I did my post-graduate work at the New England School of Acupuncture (NESA), which is an intensive three-year program requiring more than 1,200 hours of hands-on clinical instruction in small groups, teaching in Western sciences and biomedicine, and one year of clinical experience. I did my clinical training at the Boston AIDS Care Project, a substance- abuse program, the Boston Regional Medical Center (now part of Winchester Hospital), and the NESA Clinic. My third-year research project was on treating post-traumatic stress disorder with acupuncture. I graduated in 1999, am nationally board-certified in acupuncture and am licensed in acupuncture by the Massachusetts Board of Medicine.

I became a certified Zero Balancer in 2001. Zero Balancing certification requires one hundred hours of class time as well as fifty write-ups of sessions given, papers, and a final session given to a faculty member. I have taken an average of two advanced classes each year since receiving my certification, a number of which were taught by the founder of Zero Balancing, Dr. Fritz Smith.

I became a certified Hatha Yoga teacher in 2004, after taking a two-hundred-hour Anusara Yoga Teacher Training program taught by Deb Neubauer, among the first instructors certified to train teachers in the Anusara method. I have done sixty hours of advanced teacher training and continue to attend several workshops each year that are taught by senior Anusara teachers, including a five-day workshop with John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga. I study regularly with local teachers and began teaching myself in October 2004.

My private practice in acupuncture and Zero Balancing is in Greenfield, Massachusetts. I teach students at the Green River Yoga Center in Greenfield, co-op members of the Green Fields Market, and faculty, staff, and the girls’ varsity hockey team at the Northfield-Mount Hermon School.

My mission is to help people reconnect with their heart, body, and soul. I am committed to giving my clients and students whole-hearted and respectful care, to help them move into the lives they deserve: lives of joy, freedom, peace and grace.
